On 26th May 2010 in Baltinava’s  highschool, representor of social organization „Independence” Maksim Jevlampiev ,by school administration invitation, organized seminar for 7-12 grade students on theme „Harmfull alcohol influence among young people”. In Latgale’s region alcohol is the main problem in schools. Children alcoholism gets younger with every year.

The aim of action was to pay young people’s attention to fact that alcohol really does distroy  all dreams,future and lifes.

In that day there was also organized parents meating, where such themes were discussed : „How to protect children?”, „Why children start to drink?”, „How to solve arrised problem?”. Parents active took part in discussing themes.

School administration and parents meeting expressed gratitude to organization „Independence Balt.” for organized seminar.

It’s wonderfull because current action „Clean town-clean heart” has passed succesfully. On 3rd November in Lazdukalns’ parish, Balvi region, volunteers from rehabilitation centre „Independece” could clean up surrounding of Eglaine’s school. Autumn is over,all leafes from trees has fallen down and covered the earth ,including school territory.

Participants with joy armed with necessary inventory and during all day worked hard cleaning up school surrounding. Only for people with clean heart town will be clean. After cleaning up, volunteers were happy to see growing generation walking on clean road. Responsive school administration expressed their gratitude for well done work.

Preventive action "No drugs!" gains momentum. On 19th May 2009 in Balvi highschool representatives of social organization „Independence” ,by school administration invitation, organized seminar for 7th grade students about harm of drugs. The aim of this action is to pay societys attention to this painfull and widespread problem,to prevent dangerous teenagers passion to drugs.

„It is very neccesary and important action,” emphasized school staff. „It is nice, that it’s originators were social organization „Independence”, because there are people who have been in  this drug abuse problem. These guys know what they are talking about  and we will surely cooperate in future.”

„We want to protect children in our society from trouble, by at time preventing chance for young people to start using drugs. When we were studying, such actions were not organized in scools. We are very thankfull to school administration , who invited us and to whom destiny of our youth is not indifferent.” says representatives of „Independence” Pavel and Maksim.

In this autumn is planned a special parents meeting, where such seminars will be organized.

School as we know is „second home” and here everything must be just like at teenagers’ home-based on understanding,help and trust. School staff are proffesional pedagogues who knows how to work with children, but they ,first of all, are interested in education not in upbringing. Upbringing is parents’ task,in turn teachers’ and specialists’ in drug addiction sphere task is to help parents develope in children absolute aversion to drugs.

On 29th April 2009 social charity organization „Independence” organized action „No drugs!” in Balvi highschools. Now teenager drug addiction move out to level of national problem. Drugs among young people spread in chain reaction,while kids and their parents level of awareness in this issue is less then satisfactory.

Volunteers from social charity organization „Independence” Pavel Dubovsky and Maksim  Jevlampiev told students about harm of drugs,left consequences of using them on physical and mental condition,responsibility before the law. Guys testified that they know and have experienced it on their own skin. They shared  with personal experience and answered on all questions.

Schools’ administration thanked volunteers for help and participation in doing preventive work, and expressed hope to cooporate in future.

„We have already planned such events on next week. We use any opportunity to speek about this problem in schools. Special thanks to schools’ administration, who invited us and who are not indifferent about future of our youth” says volunteers.
