On 1st February 2008 a charity event was held in Lazdukaln’s parish, Balvi’s region. Guys from rehabilitation centre „Independency” distributed gift sets prepared by fond „Galeva Service” special for large and low-income families. They also visited families ,listened to their problems and needs.
This small charity event actually was very important and necessary, because locals were not quite happy, that rehabilitation center for drug and alkohol adicts was set in their parish. But charity can warm people’s hearts and brake the ice. We are convinced, that people’s attitude towards guys from rehabilitation centre had become much possitive after this event.
It is very important for us to make and maintain good relations with people around us. That’s why we met and talked to local self-government social worker and inhabitants, got to know their needs, and we will try to help as we can. In nearest future we plan to make a distribution of humanitarian aid outfit to inhabitants of parish.
Clean town-clean heart
The name of action is not accidental, it is knowingly choosed comparison, because every man spread atmosphere around himself the same as he has in his heart. And our life conditions shows what happens in our spirit and soul.
Social adaptation centre “Independence” in cooperation with volunteers of Kuldiga City Council organized a bee, when territory of city park on coast of Venta was cleaned up.
In this warm and sunny spring day guys with great joy worked and cleaned park. Each of them was personally interested so his work would look good an qualitative. There was set a miniature stage in the park and live music was playing all day long, self-composed songs were performed. Every who wanted to could have a cup of hot tee or coffee in fresh air. In that way bee turned into some kind of feast.
Favorable reviews about action “Clean town-clean heart” were seen in passer’s faces and words, because changes in this small but significant part of Kuldiga town could not be left unnoticed. In the end of day local authorities expressed gratitude centre” Independence” for done job and every participant got Appreciation script from town council.
“Action “Clean town-clean heart” has started successfully. We have many plans and we will continue doing this good deed in Latvia. We believe that our towns will be clean and people in these towns will live with clean hearts! ” says the leader of centre “Independence” Viacheslav Vahrushev.
